Builder's Lab
Builder's Lab is the engineering counterpart to the Code Crew coding line. Each week presents a real engineering challenge: build a tower that holds a tennis ball five inches off the table, build a paper airplane that flies at least 10 feet, build a marble run that takes 5+ seconds. Kids design, build, test, fail, and iterate. Photos and timing logs are kept in a parent-shared notebook. Suitable for K-5 with parent guidance scaling.
What your kid will learn
- Sketch a design before building
- Test, measure, and record what happened
- Identify why a design failed (load, balance, friction, geometry)
- Iterate: change one variable at a time
- Compare two designs honestly using a measurement
- Explain a design choice in plain language
10 to 15 minutes a day, four or five days a week. Pairs with the matching Code Crew print workbook when it ships.
